Alred Trophy: Dates confirmed for Wales & Scotland Regionals

The date for the Welsh and Scottish Regional events for the Alred Trophy have been confirmed.

The regionals for Wales, Scotland, and Ireland had to be postponed due to Covid regulations, but the Wales and Scotland events are now confirmed, with the Wales Regionals set to take place in Cardiff on the 30th May and the Scotland Regional to take place at Edinburgh University on the 30th June. Ireland’s rescheduled date is yet to be confirmed.

The Alred Trophy is a competition aimed at finding Great Britain and Ireland’s next best rugby kicker, and here at NextGenXV we will be providing coverage of the competition throughout, including live-streaming the final in July.

Founded by legendary kicking coach Dave Alred MBE, the mastermind behind globally renowned kickers like Jonny Wilkinson, George Ford, Beauden Barrett, James O’Connor, Stuart Barnes, Jonathan Webb, Matt Burke, Morné Steyn, Rob Andrew, and Jonny Sexton, the Alred Trophy is a competition open to under 18 rugby kickers designed to test them on a range of disciplines to gauge their power, accuracy and performance under pressure.

Three regional competitions have been held already, yielding fifteen finalists for the finals in Nottingham this July. Brentwood School’s Aston Leaver won the Midlands event, while in the South East it was Eastbourne College’s Jack Greig, the most recent event was the South West event, won by Harrison Greenslade. You can see a full breakdown of the results so far here: Alred Trophy Regional Results.
