Schools Rugby: NextGenXV to Live Stream Reed’s v Felsted

NextGenXV will be live streaming the 1st XV fixture between Reed’s and Felsted on Friday 28th May.

The fixture kicks off at 5pm on Friday 28th May at Reed’s, and comes as this month long mini 2020/21 season comes to a close on a bumper Friday of schools rugby. Hopes had been that scrums and mauls might be permitted for these last two weeks of school rugby, however the rise of the Indian variant of Covid saw plans to relax the amended laws at school level disbanded over the weekend.

For both Reed’s and Felsted this will be a final chance for players in their U6th to pull on their school shirt and to play alongside the friends that they have been alongside every day throughout their school careers.

As we saw in last week’s Epsom College v Hampton live stream (see highlights below), the emotion and pride in these one-off games from both players and staff alike is clear for all to see and with this being the final game for both Reed’s and Felsted, it is likely to be even more so.

It should be an exciting game, too, both sides are packed with exciting players and have been making a real impact on the schools rugby scene for a few years now. Both have seen alumni go on to big things in the rugby world, with Wasps Theo Vukasinovic a Reed’s old boy, and Feslted boasting the likes of Max Malins, Rory Hutchinson, and Ehren Painter among their pro alumni. Expect to see both teams looking to play expansive and fast-paced rugby particularly in the late-May sun eventually manages to break through.

It will be a unique fixture, to the best of our knowledge these two sides have not faced each other in a fifteen-a-side fixture this century, and likely well beyond. There will be some familiarity though, both teams are regular contributors to the Lambs Rugby side, while Felsted are regular attendees at the Reed’s 7s tournament, winning it in 2016.

The game take place on Friday 28th May at 5pm, and will be live streamed across our YouTube Channel, Facebook Page, and on Twitter, and will also be embedded on our Website, meaning that people should be able to tune in wherever they are and whatever they are doing!

After such a tough year for all involved in schools rugby, this game and others like it on the live stream should hopefully provide a deserved sense of occasion for those involved and a chance for those pulling on the shirt for perhaps the very last time to make it as memorable and as special as possible.

Do make sure you tune in!
