Round 3 of the 2021 ACE League takes place this week with six sides going in search of their first victory of the campaign and three sides looking to make it three wins from three games.

Unbeaten pace-setters Hartpury College have a bye week, as to Brooksby Melton College, who have been involved in two of the most pulsating fixtures of the entire league so far. Meanwhile new entrants Bishop Wand and Gordon’s go head to head in the Southern Conference.

Northern Conference

Myerscough College host City of Oxford College in the northern conference with both sides looking for a first win of the 2021 competition. Myerscough came close in round 1, where City of Oxford had a bye week, before last week going down at Bishop Burton College, with City of Oxford going down in a thriller against Brooksby Melton. Both have shown plenty of positive signs early on and will be eager to turn them into a result on Wednesday afternoon.

Oaklands College meanwhile return from a bye week with a tricky fixture at home to Gosforth Academy, Gosforth have been in strong form so far with victories over Myerscough and Stourport High, while Oaklands lost in a thriller at Stourport in the opening round. Nevertheless, on home soil for the first time this season, expect Oaklands to put in a serious performance on Wednesday afternoon.

The final game in the Northern Conference sees Stourport High look to bounce back from that defeat to Gosforth as they welcome the so far outstanding Bishop Burton College to Sixways. Bishop Burton College have won both of their game so far, though will be hoping for a less tense encounter than their last away game – a thrilling 33-29 victory at Brooksby Melton College.

Southern Conference

Beechen Cliff return after their bye week to host SGS Filton College, with both sides looking for a first victory of the campaign. Each has faced Exeter College so far, and with similar results, so this could be a close and exciting game, one that has plenty of rivalry behind it too, with these being the affiliates of Bath and Bristol Bears respectively.

Exeter College meanwhile chase their third victory from three as they host Truro College on Wednesday. Truro had a tough outing against Hartpury College first up but then enjoyed a win over Bishop Wand last time out, which ought to send them to their sister College full of confidence as the two Exeter Chiefs affiliates go head to head.

The final game in the Southern Conference sees the two new boys going head to head as London Irish’s Bishop Wand host Harlequins’ Gordon’s at Hazelwood. Bishop Wand won their opener against Filton but were just edged out by a single point against Truro a week later. For Gordon’s this is only their second game, they had a bye week first up and then had the almighty challenge of welcoming Hartpury College last time out, where they gave a decent account of themselves but ultimately came up short, they will be keen to get their first ever ACE win against their fellow new entrants on Wednesday.
