NextGenXV and Return2Play launch new partnership

NextGenXV and Return2Play can today announce a partnership that will see Return2Play’s gold-standard medical care promoted across our platforms.

Return2Play are the UK’s leading sports medicine provider for schools and will be appearing on our live streams, website, and across our social media platforms as we aim to ensure the very best of medical provision for each and every school player.

Working with many of the UK’s top schools, Return2Play have put together a package for schools that has been specifically designed to provide expert medical care to injured pupils, in such a way as to keep admin to a minimum while guaranteeing full compliance with the latest regulations and protocols.

Using their innovative R2P Injury Management System, they provide pupils with unlimited access to some the UK’s leading concussion experts, whilst providing schools with all of the medical support, training resources and governance help they need to confidently manage their pupil’s injuries.

Concussion management is perhaps the single biggest issue when it comes to rugby, and in particular school rugby, and Return2Play are experts in the field. They provide the UK’s most experienced doctors in the field of concussion to manage pupils’ concussion and their recovery.

These doctors have unrivalled experience in the field of child and adolescent concussion, undertaking thousands of assessments every year, and are recognised as the UK’s leading experts in this area. The doctors create bespoke recovery programmes to guide the pupil, their parents and the school through the recovery process, ensuring pupils don’t return to the classroom or the sports field until they are fit, able, and confident to do so.

Once the school has recorded an injury on the R2P Injury Management System, the pupil is then taken care of by expert doctors and there’s no more the school needs to do. You are updated on their progress at every stage of their recovery via the R2P System, which even seamlessly integrates with SOCS so sports staff have complete visibility of injuries when it comes to selecting teams for fixtures or sports sessions.

In addition, every school that partners with Return2Play has an appointed doctor available to them 6 days-a-week to discuss cases. If the school has concerns or questions about an injury, they can get advice from this doctor, whether the injury happened at school, at home, or even on a trip abroad.

Using the school’s data from the R2P Injury Management System, Return2Play also provide ongoing analysis on your school’s injuries, including a detailed analysis on areas where injury prevention measures could be implemented. Annually, one of their expert doctors will lead a review meeting with the school to discuss this analysis, provide comparisons from across all of Return2Play’s partner schools and offer guidance on the school’s policies and processes.

Return2Play also provide training for all school staff on how to recognise and manage head injuries. Covering everything from the science behind concussions; to recognising them in the playground; to what to tell parents. The training sessions are designed to empower school staff to make the right decisions and follow best-practise at all times. Using data from the R2P Injury Management System, these sessions provide real-life case studies and examples of how changes in staff’s actions can significantly reduce injury rates and pupil’s recovery times.

Commenting on the partnership, NextGenXV’s Angus Savage said: “Injury management and care, and particularly concussion management, is perhaps the single most important issue facing school sports. In rugby specifically, concussion’s effects and the impact of post-concussion care, or lack of it, are hitting the headlines increasingly.”

“From a pupil care perspective, and that of peace of mind for parents, staff, and schools themselves, the work of Return2Play is unrivalled and we are delighted to be highlighting that. From the perspective of the future of the game of rugby, there has never been a more important time to support Return2Play – tools such as their concussion management and Injury Management System could be the difference between school rugby continuing to thrive, or school rugby being ostracised.”

“We are delighted to be partnering with NextGenXV. They do a fantastic job at promoting and engaging with school sport and highlighting the benefits rugby brings to the thousands of schoolboys and girls who play it across the UK. We look forward to working together to promote safety in rugby and player welfare initiatives.” Dr Sam Barke, Head of Sports Medicine, Return2Play
