BECOME A PATRON

It is not just 10-a-side rugby this weekend, the fifteen-a-side season remains in full flow this weekend, with a packed fixture schedule.

Last weekend saw some great head to heads and so too does this weekend, with some of the biggest names in England going head to head, while in Scotland the Schools Cup semi finals will be dominating the headlines.

Friday

There is a little big of action on Friday night, over in the Midlands KES Camp Hill and Solihull go head to head in what ought to be a fine game of rugby, while in London Saint Cecilia’s and Fulham Boys’ are in action in what ought to be a top game of rugby.

Saturday

The big games roll in thick and fast on Saturday, and in Scotland particularly, where the U18 Schools Cup semi finals are taking place. Reigning champions from 2020, Stewart’s Melville, are in action against the side that they beat in that final, George Watson’s College, which ought to be a massive clash.

The other semi final sees another of Scottish rugby’s two most prestigious names going head to head as Merchiston Castle and Dollar Academy go head to head. Merchiston Castle won the title in 2019, while Dollar have to go back to their 3 in a row in the early 2000s for their last triumph, despite reaching a number of finals.

The Shield semi finals also kick off this weekend, with Queen Victoria School hosting Morrison’s Academy. The other semi final, Loretto v Preston Lodge High, is on Wednesday.

There is plenty of other rugby in Scotland this weekend outside of the Cups, Hutchesons’ Grammar are at home against Wellington School, while there is inter-city rivalry in the form of Glasgow Academy v Edinburgh Academy. Meanwhile Glasgow High School host Linlithgow Academy, and Dundee High welcome Robert Gordon’s College, look out too for George Heriot’s Kelvinside Academy.

In England there are plenty of monster fixtures too, one of the picks of the bunch will be Barnard Castle v Gosforth Academy. Barnard Castle have that huge Schools Cup semi finals against Kirkham Grammar School to prepare for, and in Gosforth Academy they have picked a strong opponent, one of the top ACE Colleges in the country.

Elsewhere in the North of England there is action at Birkenhead, where they host St Anselm’s College, meanwhile Manchester Grammar and Wirral Grammar go head to head in what should be an absolute cracker of a game. Lancaster RGS have been in fine form, and will have to be again as they are away at St Ambrose College, while St Edward’s College are welcoming Scarisbrick Hall.

In the Midlands one of the biggest fixtures of the day is going to be Warwick v Sir Thomas Rich’s, two schools with such strong histories, who have been playing some absolutely superb rugby of late.

Also in the area, Solihull welcome King’s Macclesfield down the road for what ought to be a cracking game, while Old Swinford Hospital travel across to Loughborough GrammarRepton are in action against club side Melbourne RFC, and there is a fantastic game in the east of the country as St Joseph’s College welcome a Finborough side that have played some great rugby this year.

Another in the Midlands that should be a cracker is Bishop Vesey’s Grammar v Northampton School for Boys. NSB have such a strong reputation, but Bishop Vesey’s have been playing some brilliant rugby this year, it bodes well for a top game of rugby.

In the south, Hampton v Whitgift jumps right off the page as one of the fixtures of the weekend across the whole country. These two are both seriously strong sides, and should have their academy players available for action too, making this an even bigger clash. It could go either way, both have had some signature performances this season, all eyes to South West London.

John Fisher also have a massive game as they welcome Ipswich School, whose ambitious fixture list grows ever more exciting. Elsewhere in and around London, Campion welcome Brentwood, while Tiffin are hosting St George’s HarpendenChislehurst & Sidcup meanwhile head to Dartford Grammar.
