Schools Rugby: Midweek Preview – First week of action since half term

This week sees most schools return after the half term break and a strong week of rugby, with both fifteen-a-side games and seven-a-side games taking place.

The post half-term period sees the 7s tournament really ramp up and through the next few days and into the weekend there are some key tournaments on the road to Rosslyn Park, including our live streaming of Sunday’s Christ College Brecon Invitational 7s.

Wednesday

To the midweek rugby though, and there are some fantastic fifteen-a-side games. Merchant Taylors’ and St Mary’s College go head to head in their County Plate Final, which also serves as a huge Crosby derby.

Also in the North West, Altincham Grammar and St Ambrose College go head to head, while in Scotland Dundee High School are in action at Lathallan.

Further South there are a few games too, Coopers’ Coborn host Seevic College, while Wetherby welcome Harrodian and Ibstock Plate host Box Hill. Meanwhile Glyn’s preparations for their U18 Schools Bowl semi final continue as they travel to Latymer Upper.

On the 7s field there are tournaments at St Albans and QES Kirkby Londsdale, with the likes of Austin Friars and Sedbergh’s 2nd VIIs in attendance, meanwhile Denstone College and Nottingham High have a friendly.

The Judd are hosting a 7s tournament that will see the likes of Colfe’s, Langley Park, Maidstone Grammar, Ravens Wood, Skinners’, and Sir Joseph Williamson’s, all in attendance. Meanwhile Sedbergh welcomeGiggleswick and Myerscough College for a Training Day.

There is also a huge tournament at Hampton School, their annual Founders’ Day 7s, with the likes of Brighton College, Cranleigh, and Epsom College among a seriously strong field. You can see our preview of the tournament here: Hampton School Founders’ Day 7s Preview.

Thursday

On Thursday Bedford and Samuel Whitbread will take part in some 7s training against each other, with some big tournaments to come in the coming weeks.
