Rosslyn Park HSBC National School 7s: Day 5 Preview – The Final Day, 5 different competitions to finish things off!

Day 5 at the Rosslyn Park HSBC National School 7s is a huge day, the final day of the tournament and one with five separate competitions going on at once.

The flagship U18 Cup will enter its final stages, along with the U14 Boys Cup, but alongside them will be the Girls U18 Cup, the Girls AASE tournament, and the Prep Schools tournament – it is a beast of the day.

If it goes anything like the rest of the tournament though, it ought to be a spectacular day!

Live Stream

Once again NextGenXV will be live streaming Pitch RE2 throughout the day and you can watch that pitch either via our YouTube channel or the embedded video below. The stream will start with 3 U14 Cup games before a couple of Girls U18 Cup games, before another block of U14 games ahead of an afternoon that is devoted to the Boys U18 Cup and the knockout games in both the Boys and Girls U18 competitions – it should be a cracking day of action.

U18 Cup

The U18 Cup looks incredibly exciting, twelve teams have made it through to day 2, split across four pools of three. From those four pools the winners will progress to the semi finals. The U18 Plate sees two pools of four teams each, with the top two from each heading to the semi finals.

You can check out exactly what happened and what’s to come in the U18 Cup in our Review of Day 4 here: Rosslyn Park HSBC National School 7s Day 4 Review.

U18 Girls

The U18 Girls tournament kicks off on Friday on what is going to be such a busy and exciting day of rugby. 48 teams will be competing in total, split across sixteen groups of three, and the good news is that every single team will progress from their group sin some way shape or form!

The top team from each group will progress to the last 16 of the Cup, while those finishing in second place will head to the last 16 of the Plate, and those finishing in third will be in the last 16 of the Bowl.

It should be a thrilling tournament as Weston College look to emulate their 2019 title winning campaign.

U18 Girls AASE

Hartpury College, Loughborough College, SGS Filton College, Swedish Girls, Worthing College

The Girls AASE competition has seen a bit of a rejig, with just five teams now in the competition in what is going to be a round-robin affair, where the top two will face off the in the Girls AASE final!

Prep Schools

The Prep Schools tournament also takes place on Friday, in what is going to be an outrageously busy day of 7s. The Prep School tournament is one of the great event of the Rosslyn Park HSBC National School 7s as the U13s, alongside those U14s remaining too, play on the very same turf as their U18 heroes, and in many cases future internationals, creating a very special atmosphere – who can forget Sedbergh Prep watching Sedbergh School lifting the U18 Cup a few years ago.

The Prep tournament itself should thrill too though, there are 60 teams in the draw in total, split between ten groups of six, with each sides playing the others in their group once.
