5. Wynberg

National Ranking: 12 (-1)

Our rankings formula haven’t exactly endeared us to the Wynberg faithful and despite a well deserved win over Rondebosch due to Oakdale’s win over Outeniqua they have lost a place.

This should however not detract from the fact it has been an exceptional season for the Southern Suburbs team, they have now secured wins over both Bishops and Rondebosch and who can forget that exceptional win over Boland Landbou, their recent form has been nothing short of exceptional and they seem a team on the rise.

4. Oakdale

National Ranking: 11 (+1)

Despite a sluggish start to the season Oakdale have come on in leaps and bounds, many would have likely fancied Outeniqua to take home the win in this one but Oakdale ensured that this year they would be unofficial SWD champions.

Some interesting fixtures await the Riversdale outfit and no doubt if their form continues there should be a Top 10 finish come the end of the season.

3. Upington

Our community predicted an over 90% chance that Noord-Kaap would take this Northern Cape derby, and many outside punters would have agreed, after Noord-Kaap have long been a dominant force in the region.

In a high scoring and enthralling encounter Uppies took home the win with a 49-35 victory ensuring a memorable day for the whole Upington community.

2. Queens

To say that Queens were outsiders for this fixture is certainly an understatement. The team have played some truly exceptional rugby this year and if you are after a free flowing and entertaining game then look no further.

However this open style of play has resulted in some losses for the Queenstown boys and with Selborne before the fixture a Top 20 outfit across all ranking platforms it looked a certainty that they would come home with the spoils.

This was however to be a Queens College day, the team performed exceptionally to secure a memorable 19-10 win.

1. Clifton

I think few would argue that this years Clifton outfit are possibly the best produced in the history of the school. They have pushed many a team to the brink and as the season has continued we have seen them defy the odds with many firsts.

This was yet another first for the KZN outfit, a hard fought victory over Kearsney was the first in the schools history. Who knows what else can be achieved as the season continues, the boys are certainly having some fun and the team spirit is there.

We look forward to seeing them progress even further.
