The ACE League continues on Wednesday with Round 2 of the second stage of the competition, the mid-point of this second stage.

For those in the Division 1 Pools, this is a key point to keep themselves in with a chance of finishing top of the pool and therefore securing a place in the ACE League Final.

Round 2 Fixtures

Division 1

Pool A

Beechen Cliff v Stourport High

Bishop Wand v Brooksby Melton College

At home again after victory last week over Bishop Wand, Beechen Cliff have a chance to make their game against Brooksby Melton College next week a table topping showdown. Indeed if both beat Stourport High and Bishop Wand this week they will be going head to head for top spot. Beechen Cliff are looking for back to back victories as they host Stourport High, meanwhile Brooksby Melton College are away at Bishop Wand, who ran Beechen Cliff close last time and who will fancy another close battle this week.

Pool B

City of Oxford College v Exeter College

Gosforth Academy v Hartpury College

Again there is a possibility in Pool B of setting up a ‘semi final’ for a place in the final should City of Oxford College and Hartpury College beat Exeter College and Gosforth Academy respectively last week. City of Oxford College won an absolute thriller against Gosforth Academy last time out 27-26, and remember City of Oxford reached last year’s final, where they faced Hartpury. They now take on Exeter College, who had a tough outing against Hartpury College, like pretty much very other side this year. Hartpury meanwhile head to Gosforth, whose 2 bonus points in defeat last week could prove crucial.

Division 2

North Pool

Oaklands College v Myerscough College

Oaklands host Myerscough College, after a 29-6 defeat to Bishop Burton College last time out. It is Myerscough’s first Stage 2 game, but they will likely head in with confidence, when these two met earlier in the year Myerscough won 59-10 – although that was on home turf.

South Pool

Gordon’s v Truro College – Round 5 G 28-31 TC

Gordon’s had a barnstorming performance last time out, beating SGS Filton College 40-14 away from home for a first victory of this year’s ACE campaign. They now host Truro College, for whom it is a first Stage 2 fixture this year, and the two had a thrilling game when they met earlier in the year. That one was at Gordon’s too, Truro winning 31-28, the question is, can Gordon’s turn the tables this time?
