Schools Rugby: NextGenXV Schools Rugby Table | Updated Standings, Big Climbers, and some changes in the Top 10

The NextGenXV Schools Rugby Table has seen some shifts as we move into the third week of the table, which uses the ELO rating system to give each side their placing.

The top three remain unchanged as after good performances over the past week from Clifton College, Trinity, and Harrow, but things are oh so tight – every single game could completely shake that trio up.

Behind them Sedbergh just edge ahead of Millfield, by a solitary point, while Kirkham Grammar remain solidly in sixth place, but there is a rise up the table for Ipswich after tough outings over the past week for Wellington College, Stowe, and Hampton.

Those three just stay in the Top 10, but look out for Oakham, who have risen four places to 11th and are within a whisker of a rise into the Top 10. So too Denstone College, whose result a fortnight ago against Sedbergh was massive, they are up again into 16th and will likely rise further, Eton College and Brighton College have also had big climbs.

Climbing into the Top 25 are Northampton School for Boys, who are up in 21st now, while Epsom College’s narrow win over Cranleigh has seen them close right up to their vanquished opponents. Marlborough College are another big climber, moving up into the Top 50 again after slipping out last week.

The whole table is to finely in the balance, just 23 points separating the top 5 (the equivalent of a 2.3% difference in probability of victory!), meanwhile Denstone College in 16th are closer to 1st place than they are to 46th place, showing just how tight things are at the top.

The table is so close throughout the Top 50, and indeed right through the Top 100, which you can see here: NextGenXV Schools Rugby Table Top 100.

There have been some whopping climbs this week, among them Princethorpe College climbing 42 places to breach the Top 100, while Cokethorpe and Royal School Wolverhampton have both jumped in excess of 60 places, so too Wycliffe College, while Ravens Wood and Coopers’ Coborn are both up 59 spots.

With a huge week coming up we can expect to see some more interesting moves over the course of the next week, not least with the return of The Schools Championship with Millfield hosting Whitgift, which you will be able to watch live here on NextGenXV.

Eton College and Harrow go head to head in midweek, and live on NextGenXV we have Cheltenham College v Sir Thomas Rich’s on Thursday. Those two are currently 33rd and 34th, which should make for a fantastic game.
