Schools Rugby: NextGenXV Schools Rugby Table Update | Another New Name at the Top

Ranking Week 6 (1200 × 676px)

As we head rapidly towards the end of term, and the end of the fifteen-a-side season for many, there is plenty of change in the NextGenXV Schools Rugby Table with some crucial fixtures coming up in the next week too.

There is a third team at the top of the table in three weeks as Trinity School move from second to top spot for the first time this season, usurping Harrow by a mere two points on the same weekend that Harrow were confirmed as the 2022 Daily Mail Trophy champions.

Trinity’s jump is as a result of their victory over 18th place Eton College having a tiny amount more value in the calculations than Harrow’s over 34th placed Epsom College, but with the two facing each other in Thursday’s live stream here on NextGenXV in the U18 Schools Cup quarter final (watch below, or on our YouTube channel and TikTok channel), the shape of the table could yet change dramatically.

Clifton remain high in third, with Sedbergh close behind and Millfield looking locked in fifth and Kirkham in 6th. Stowe have moved up to 7th after their defeat of Ipswich, which sees the Suffolk slide to 9th, allowing Wellington College up a spot.

RGS Newcastle’s defeat of Barnard Castle sees them up to 20th, and with a massive Cup quarter final against Oakham on Wednesday there is room for both to make big strides yet. Sir Thomas Rich’s continue to climb after a good performance against Northampton School for Boys, they are into the Top 30, King’s Macclesfield are also going north, so too The Judd and Durham, who start to see reward for their recent performances.

Outside of the Top 50 (you can see the Top 100 here), Reed’s have risen 10 places and Hurstpierpoint College 12, Cardinal Vaughan are up 14 and St John’s Leatherhead a whopping 21. Hymers College have moved up 33, while Bedford Modern are up 44.

The biggest climbers though are Warminster, who rise 76 places, with Ratcliffe College and Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar both up more than 60 places, while Kings Ely and Coopers’ Coborn are up by over 50.

There is still a huge amount to play for right up and down the table, with so many key fixtures left to play. On the live streams, Marlborough College v Blundell’s, 30 v 43, could see big shifts on Wednesday (watch above, or on our YouTube channel and TikTok channel), and on Thursday Harrow v Trinity, 2 v 1, Daily Mail Trophy champions v Schools Cup champions, could be table defining.
