School 10s: Mount Kelly 10s | Draw & Preview for Rearranged Tournament

The Mount Kelly 10s will take place on Wednesday after it had to be postponed from its original January slot due to the weather.

As such there are a few changes to the draw, with some teams already having commitments for this Wednesday, though reigning champions Millfield will still take part despite also attending the Hampton School Founders’ Day 7s on Wednesday, dividing their impressive resources.

In total there will be ten sides gathering in Mount Kelly, split into two groups of five teams each, with the top two teams in each group progressing to the Cup semi finals.

Third and fourth placed teams will head to the Plate semi finals, while those finishing bottom of their respective pools will meet in the Bowl final.

Hosts Mount Kelly reached last year’s final and are drawn in Group A, where they will be up against some formidable sides, not least Exeter Chiefs ACE side, Exeter College. Alongside those two are Cokethorpe, Penwith College, and a Truro School side that is always a tough opponent.

Reigning champions Millfield are in Group B alongside the other Exeter Chiefs ACE side, Truro College. Joining them are last year’s Bowl winners, Plymouth College, as well as a strong Torquay Boys’ Grammar School squad, and the ever-competitive West Buckland.

It should be a strong tournament, one that should see all ten squads gathering pace and momentum ahead of the major short-form tournaments that lie ahead.
