Live Stream: Gordon’s Floodlit 7s | Draw, Preview, & Live Stream Schedule

This Friday sees the Gordon’s Floodlit 7s take place, a thrilling Friday evening of rugby between some of the most exciting sides around.

Ten schools will gather in Surrey for the tournament, and all the action on the main pitch will be live streamed here on NextGenXV, with England legend Rachael Burford among the commentary team.

You will be able to watch the tournament on our YouTube channel, or through the embedded link below:

The ten teams are split into two pools of five teams each and the top two from each pool will qualify for the Cup semi finals. Meanwhile the two third placed teams will head straight to the Plate Final.

It is expected to be a big marker on the road to the Rosslyn Park National School 7s, particularly with the Academy season now over, meaning that more schools have more of their players available.

Wellington College are the reigning champions and are proof of that squad strengthening, with many of their Academy players available. The Berkshire side will be keen to get this second half of term off to a quick start with some key tournaments to come.

The reigning champions are situated in Pool 2, where among their stiffest competition will be Ipswich, who have taken the season by storm this year. They have a busy week too, just two days before they are at the Hampton School Founders’ Day 7s.

Alongside those two are The Oratory, who will be keen to mount a big challenger, so too Mill Hill, while Eton College are a side to watch. They had a strong fifteen-a-side season and will be eager to impress on the sevens field as well.

Hosts Gordon’s are in Pool 1 and, like Ipswich, they will be coming hot off the heels of an appearance at the Hampton 7s. They have a tough pool too, with Brighton College joining them, the perennial high achievers, particularly in 7s season. The live coverage actually opens with Brighton College v Gordon’s at 5pm, a game that could well be key.

Alongside those two are Reading Blue Coat, no strangers to live coverage and a side that has progressed rapidly in the last few years and will cause serious problems to those two heavy hitters. Lord Wandsworth College similarly, they have had a busy season with a long County Cup run, as well as Worth, who have impressed in 2022/23 and have a squad that could be very competitive.

It looks set to be an incredibly competitive evening of 7s, but more importantly a fun one – the atmosphere under the lights always brews somethings special, and the BBQ is sure to be an off-field hit as well.

Join us from 4.50pm on Friday for what should be a very special evening!
