This Sunday sees Collegiate School host the Collegiate School 7s, a joint Rugby 7s and Netball tournament.

The Rugby will see sixteen schools competing, while there will be twelve competing in the Netball, and both competitions will see the main pitch being live streamed here on NextGenXV, with both available on our YouTube channel and embedded within this article.

Rugby

The sixteen teams competing are split into four groups of four and every side is guaranteed four games, with finalists playing five. The top side from each group heads to the Cup semi finals, with second place going to the Plate, third to the Bowl, and fourth to the Trophy semi finals.

Christ College are the reigning champions after a stunning 40-10 victory over King’s College, Taunton in last year’s final. Christ College are in flying form this year too after winning their home Christ College Brecon 7s last weekend for the first time this century.

As champions, they are situated in Pool A, where their competition will be QEH, Monkton Combe, and Taunton School. QEH v Taunton School’s Pool game will be on the live stream at 11.10am.

King’s College Taunton, as runners up, are in Pool B. It promises to be an exciting pool, with three competitive sides alongside them in Wellington School, Dean Close, and Prior Park College, who could well be a side to keep an eye on. Two Pool B games will be live; Dean Close v Wellington School at 11.50am and the opening game of the stream, Prior Park College v Dean Close at 10.30am.

Pool C is a massive one, featuring as it does one of the strongest sides in school rugby, Kirkham Grammar School. Alongside Kirkham are KES Bath, Exeter School, and Collegiate’s local rivals Bristol Grammar. Bristol Grammar v Kirkham Grammar will be broadcast live at 11.30am.

Hosts Collegiate are in Pool D, a tricky Pool that includes dark horses Malvern College, Kingswood, and one of Wales’ fastest rising teams, Cathedral School Llandaff. On the live stream Pool D will see action at 10.50am, Collegiate v Cathedral School Llandaff, and 12.10pm, Collegiate v Kingswood.

It’s set to be an intense and close competition, the standard across the board looking incredibly even and packed into a tight and exciting schedule of action, with the Cup final at 2.50pm.

Netball

The Netball competition sees the twelve teams split into two pools of six teams each, with every team guaranteed six games and the finalists playing seven.

The top two sides from each Pool will reach the Cup semi finals, the next two will reach the Plate semis, and the bottom two teams will be in the Shield semi finals.

Hosts Collegiate are situated in Pool A, where their competition will be Bristol Grammar, Downside, Monmouth, King’s College Taunton, and Malvern College. Live games in the Group will be at 9.30am (Bristol Grammar v Collegiate), 10.10am (Collegiate v Downside), 10.50am (Collegiate v King’s College Taunton), 11.30am (Collegiate v Malvern College), and 12.10pm (Collegiate v Monmouth).

Pool B sees Prior Park College, Kingswood, Dean Close, Christ College, and KES Bath competing, alongside a yet to be named Guest VII. The Guest VII will be first up on the live stream in this group at 9.50am against KES Bath, followed by games at 10.30am (Dean Close v KES Bath), 11.10am (Christ College v KES Bath), 11.50am (Dean Close v Prior Park College), and 12.30pm (Christ College v Kingswood).

After that 12.30pm game there will be a break for lunch before the knockout games begin at 1.30pm, with the Cup final taking place at 2.40pm.
