Rugby 200: Rugby School Charity Vets 7s Festival | Draw, Preview, and Live Stream Schedule

The Rugby Football bicentenary celebrations at Rugby School continue on Monday with one of the most highly anticipated events of the celebrations, the Charity Vets 7s Festival.

The Vets 7s sees the charitable aspect of the 200 year celebrations really take centre stage, with money being raised for the Wooden Spoon Charity and the Rugby School 1823 Bursary.

NextGenXV will be live streaming all of the action from Pitch 1 (Old Bigside) and it will all be available to view on the NextGenXV YouTube Channel and embedded later in this article.

Such is the charitable focus that it will play a key part in the tournament itself, the overall winner of the Vets Rugby Tournament will be the team with the lowest combined score once their match competition ranking and the fundraising competition ranking have been added together – i.e. the raising of funds will be just as important to your final position as the rugby will.

The will also be two further trophies awarded for the winning team on the rugby front and the winning team on the fundraising front, though no side can win more than one award. Should teams be tied, the team that has raised greater funds will be declared the winner.

Wooden Spoon

Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of Rugby, a grant making charity that funds life-changing projects across the UK and Ireland. They have a national footprint, but the largest part of their income is raised by local volunteers.

It is their 40th anniversary this year and In the last 40 years they have supported over 30 million vulnerable children and young people across the UK and Ireland, through the power of rugby.

Forty years on, vulnerable children need our help more than ever. Nine percent of children in the UK have a disabilityi, one in six suffer from at least one mental health problemii and there are still over four million children living in povertyiii in the UK and Ireland.

To combat this and to ensure every child and young person has access to the best life opportunities, Wooden Spoon is setting out to raise more funds.
