Schools Rugby: Eltham College Festival | Preview

Eltham College this weekend launch a festival that will bring six different schools together in an exciting new competition.

With the potential to grow to become something like the Festivals that we will see at St Joseph’s College and Merchiston Castle in the next couple of weekend’s, Saturday’s competition at Eltham College is an enormously exciting addition to the calendar.

They will welcome five schools to South East London, four from reasonably nearby, Gordon’s, Langley Park, Merchant Taylors’, and an outstanding Mill Hill side, and one from a little further afield, Jersey’s Victoria College.

The six teams are split into two pools of three and each side will be guaranteed three games over the day as the top side in each pool meet in the Eltham College Festival final, second in each pool play for third place, and third in each pool play for fifth place.

Host Eltham College have an exciting group, with Victoria College and Mill Hill joining them, a tricky yet fascinating pool of three.

Over in Pool 2 things are similar, Merchant Taylors’ and Langley Park both have plenty of potential and they are joined by a Gordon’s school side who ACE team have been absolutely flying, and their schools rugby Saturday side, the team playing here at Eltham, have been ticking along very nicely too.

It’s set to be a fantastic occasion, not just for the undoubtedly fun action that we will see on the field this weekend, but also for the sense of possibility of what may become further down the line.
