Live Stream: The Oratory v London Oratory | Preview – 1st XV, 2nd XV, U16s Triple Header

The Oratory and London Oratory meet this Wednesday at Grasshoppers RFC with a full fixture programme against one another.

The 1st XV, 2nd XV, and U16s will all be broadcast LIVE here on NextGenXV and will be available to watch on the NextGenXV YouTube Channel and through the embedded video below, with the U16s getting things started at 5pm, the 2nd XVs at 6.15pm, and the 1st XVs rounding things off at 7.30pm.

It promises to be a very special evening in West London after last year’s thrilling encounters, which were part of Reading Oratory’s 100 year rugby anniversary, saw honours even across the fixtures with The Oratory winning two games, London Oratory winning two, and the two 1st XVs finishing the evening off with an epic 19-19 draw – see below.

That 2022 broadcast built on 2021 by adding the 2nd XV, this year it steps up a notch again with the inclusion of the U16s.

Heading into this one all three Reading Oratory sides ought to be feeling full of confidence, particularly the 1stXV who are unbeaten with 8 wins from 8 and are through to the 4th round of the Continental Tyres Schools Vase, where they will face a Lord Wandsworth College side against whom they have already won a close game earlier in the season.

They have taken on some strong sides this year, including Bishop Wordsworth’s and St Edward’s Oxford and have come away with tight victories against both. This is a strong Oratory 1st XV.

The 2nd XV have had a tougher run of things, beating Pangbourne and Bishop Wordsworth’s but losing their other four, while the U16s have had a strong year. They have won four of their six games their other two both being against Cokethorpe, with whom they drew in September and lost to by just three points last time out.

London Oratory meanwhile arrive with a 1st XV that should be feeling confident, winning four of their seven games to date in a run that has taken them to the Regional Final stage of the Continental Tyres Schools Bowl. They have been playing very good rugby all year long.

The 2nd XV are in great shape having won three of their four games to date including a very strong performance at Wimbledon College last time out, meanwhile the U16s have suffered a spate of cancellations but every time they have walked out onto the field they have prospered.

So both groups arrive in good shape ahead of what should be a great occasion at Grasshoppers. 2022 should fill London Oratory with confidence ahead of the senior games, having won tight games at 2nd XV and U16 level and drawn the 1st XV game. It was a pretty historic night for them, the first time they had avoided defeat to The Oratory at 1st XV level this century and a first victory over them at U16 level in almost a decade.

The Oratory will look at their record this season though and the closeness of the games last year and be filled with confidence themselves, while the U16s will look back at a 15-12 victory as U15s last year fondly.

It feels in the balance across the games, and that should make for three spectacular games of school rugby.
