Schools Rugby: NextGenXV Schools Rugby Table | Latest Update – 11/12/23

Next week will see the final update of the NextGenXV Schools Rugby Table for the season, however with not many fixtures left this latest update is not too far away from what the final standings will look like.

Most important of all, Harrow are (at this stage unofficially) the Champions after their incredible Continental Tyres Schools Cup quarter final victory over Ipswich last week. That will be confirmed next week but at this point they cannot be caught.

It comes as no surprise, the London side have been utterly sensational this season. They started the season highly rated having won the 2022 Daily Mail Trophy and both the U18 and U16 2023 Rosslyn Park National School 7s titles last season. If anything though they have exceeded expectations, playing some wonderful rugby, culminating in that sensational victory over Ipswich.

That result sealed top spot in the NextGenXV table, and sent them to the Continental Tyres Schools Cup semi final, in addition to having sealed back to back Daily Mail Trophy titles a few days before.

Also through to the Cup semi finals are Kirkham Grammar School, and their victory over Woodhouse Grove in last week’s quarter final secured second place in the NextGenXV table and a remarkable unbeaten season. With the St Joseph’s Festival title in the bag already, they will be eyeing up more silverware next season.

Ipswich bounced back from defeat to Harrow with a victory over Whitgift on Saturday and that keeps them in third place, ahead of Brighton College by 8 points. Brighton College stay in 4th, Clifton College in 5th, those two wound up their seasons on the 2nd December.

Eton College bounced back from defeat to Trinity with a good victory over Bishop Wordsworth’s to move up a place from seventh to sixth, while Millfield finished their season off with a thrilling victory over Sedbergh on Wednesday, a result that moved them up to seventh place, with Sedbergh sliding back to 9th. Wellington College stay in 8th having wrapped up their season on the 2nd.

Bromsgrove competed a stunning unbeaten season with two victories last week, beating Radley College to reach the Cup semis and Warwick to complete the unbeaten term. They are incredibly unlucky not to move further up the table, they are just six points behind Wellington College in 8th and they miss out on 9th by an almost ridiculous tiny 0.26 points. They are an outstanding side.

Stamford stay in 11th, while Hurstpierpoint College’s victory over Epsom College sees them rise a place to 12th, with Trinity sliding back to 13th. Oakham and Cranleigh stay put behind them, while Sir Thomas Rich’s climb a couple of spots to 16th and Denstone College surge up from 21st to 17th, Whitgift sliding a spot to 18th, with King’s Macclesfield staying in 19th.

Stowe’s last day victory over NSB sees them rise to 4 to 20th, RGS High Wycombe slip back to 21st. Defeat to Tonbridge sees Seaford College slip from 16th to 22nd, a result that sees Tonbridge rise to the cusp of the Top 25. Kingswood stay in 23rd and St Ambrose College in 25th, but surging forwards from 29th to 24th are Haileybury after their victory over St Albans.

Outside of the Top 25, Bedford Modern, St Joseph’s College, and Richard Hale all make huge rises, likewise St Peter’s York, King’s Worcester, KES Birmingham, Wellington College, and Canford.

The final update will come following the conclusion of this week’s games, including the official crowning of Harrow as champions as this remarkable term of rugby draws to a close.
