School 7s: Cathedral School Llandaff Floodlit 7s | Preview

This Friday Cathedral School Llandaff host their Floodlit 7s at the Cardiff University Sports Fields, a huge start to the weekend’s school rugby.

There are ten sides in action in Cardiff in what will be an intense evening of rugby, kicking off at 5pm.

The ten teams are divided into two pools of five teams each, only the top three from each will progress to the knockouts, with the top two heading to the Cup semi finals and third going direct to the Plate final.

Cathedral School Llandaff, as hosts, are in Group 1 and it is a strong group. It features three rival Welsh schools, Llanishen High School, St Cenydd Community School, and schools rugby giants Whitchurch High School. Completing the group are one of two English schools in the competition, Hereford Cathedral School.

Group 2 is stacked, Christ College Brecon have been outstanding for a few years now, particularly in short form competitions. So too though have been Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf, a true giant of the school game. Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg and Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni are two stalwarts of the Welsh game as well and will be gunning for knockout rugby, so too the only English side in the pool, Dean Close, who have had some wonderful performances in recent years.

It promises to be an amazing evening in Cardiff, with the opening game of the Guinness Six Nations on in the background as well, it should make for a brilliant atmosphere.
