With just a handful of fixtures remaining, the NextGenXV Schools Rugby Table has seen a real shake up and a winner can now be unofficially confirmed.
After their sensational victory over Sedbergh last week, see highlights below, Millfield have claimed top spot and will seal the NextGenXV Schools Rugby Table – with none of the other contenders having any eligible fixtures left.
It has been an epic term, the top sides have all take games off one another, with Sedbergh beating Clifton, Clifton beating Millfield, and Millfield beating Sedbergh. In the end the difference was that the other games between the top end of the table have now been incredibly tight, while Millfield played beautifully for a wider margin against Sedbergh.
That result slips Sedbergh into third, with Clifton College staying in second. They do face Terenue College of Ireland on Friday, but unfortunately it does not qualify in the table as there is no pre-season rating for Terenure.
Wellington College sit in fourth, with the unbeaten Cranleigh just behind in fifth. Meanwhile Berkhamsted and Harrow are level in sixth, a good week for Berkhamsted seeing them rise. Whitgift slip ever so slightly to 8th, with Brighton College and Warwick roundup out the Top 10. From 12th to 17th it’s as you were, with RGS High Wycombe, Ellesmere College, Radley College, Kirkham Grammar, Stamford, and Dean Close, with Epsom College drawing level with Dean Close.
Northampton School for Boys’ defeat to Warwick sees them drop a spot, with Tonbridge rising, Uppingham, Hill House, and Oakham all stay put, with QEGS Wakefield rising up to draw level with Oakham after their tight Cup win over Ellesmere College. Campion and Stowe round out the Top 25.
There are still a good few fixtures to come and positions will change, but what is for sure is that Millfield are the 2024 NextGenXV Schools Rugby Table winners, a magnificent side, who rounded off the campaign with the most complete performance of any of the top side’s performances against one another.
