The LIVE pre-season action continues on Saturday with the Kingswood Pre-Season Rugby Festival.
Kingswood School host their annual Festival, hosting sixteen schools alongside two sides of their own in what should be an intense and exciting final stage of preparation for the season ahead for all sides competing.
Intensity is the name of the game too, all 18 sides will play four games of 24 minutes which will have short and sharp 1 minute half times and no conversions in order to maximise the ball in play time as much as possible.
Live Stream
Every game on Pitch 1 will be brought to you LIVE here on NextGenRugby, through the NextGenLive YouTube Channel and embedded below, with 9 games on pitch in total, featuring thirteen of the sides involved.
As the full season rapidly approaches, the Kingswood Pre-Season Festival is a vital opportunity to get match ready, but also to play against a range of different sides, many that often will not compete against one another. Not only that, but it is another wonderful chance to seize what is often one of the most special parts of rugby, the camaraderie between competing teams off the field, with a real festival atmosphere expected across the grounds.
Competing Teams
Those competing stem mainly from the South West of the country, with Kingswood’s two sides, Millfield, KES Bath, King’s Bruton, Monkton Combe, and ACE side Beechen Cliff representing Somerset.
Bristol Grammar School and QEH make the trip from Bristol, while Blundell’s travel up from Devon. Cathedral School Llandaff meanwhile make the hop across the Welsh border to compete. Sherborne travel over from Dorset, with Cheltenham College and Sir Thomas Rich’s travelling from Gloucestershire, while three sides head across from Oxfordshire, Bloxham, Abingdon, and St Edward’s Oxford. The tournaments furthest travellers though are Eton College, who head along the M4 from Berkshire.
Tim Reeman Cup
The inaugural Tim Reeman Cup will be awarded this year at the Kingswood Pre-Season Festival to the player that best embodies the spirit of rugby – to someone whose decision-making and selfless approach elevates the performance of their whole team, making a significant impact without seeking the spotlight and showing great sportsmanship.
It is named after former Bath fly half Tim Reeman, who has spent an extraordinary 37 years as Director of Sport at Kingswood School.
