This Wednesday Millfield and Sedbergh meet in a fantastic Schools Netball double header in Somerset.
It’s a first true venture down south this season for Sedbergh, their 1st and 2nd VIIs facing two Millfield sides that have played a huge amount of Netball already this year. Both games will be broadcast LIVE on the NextGenLive YouTube Channel and through the embedded video below, with the 1st VII starting at 1.30pm on Wednesday and the 2nd VII at 2.30pm.
It is a day where these two schools compete across multiple sport in what is a real showcase of the sporting excellence that both of these two storied schools have. More than that though it is a showcase of the camaraderie between these two schools, despite the near 300 miles between them.
Millfield have had a particularly busy season, with both the 1st VII and 2nd VII competing in the Independent Schools League, powered by Huddle. The 1st VII have been involved in the Super League at the ISL, while the 2nd VII have been in the Academy League, with both performing well.
Indeed it is a sign of the strength of Netball at Millfield that the 2nd VII have been competing excellently in that Academy League against 1st VII calibre opposition from around the country. There is real depth at Millfield.
Sedbergh have not played as much as their hosts this season, few have, but their record has been excellent at the 1st VII in particular arrive in good form for what is always one of the highlights of the season.
The two schools have only really begun playing at 1st VII level recently, Millfield have always been one of the strongest in the country while it has been more of an emerging force for Sedbergh. However that regular competition has seen the gap between the two close, Millfield won by nearly 50 points in 2023, but last year that difference was a mere 11, so expect a tight contest this Wednesday between the two 1st VIIs.
The 2nd VIIs have met slightly more often and while Millfield had an excellent performance to win last year’s handily, Sedbergh had won the previous few encounters.
Gear up then for what should be a pretty special afternoon both on and off the court as these two schools celebrate friendship and rivalry, and compete in what should be two fantastic games of Netball.
