Prem Rugby Next Gen: Round 7 Review | Bath quality for 3rd final in a row

Bath Rugby booked their place in the 2026 Prem Rugby Next Gen final following a 40-22 Round 7 victory over Leicester Tigers.

Only Saracens can overhaul Bath’s points total, they have two games left to Bath and Harlequins’ one game each. That means that Bath are guaranteed a Top 2 finish and a place in the final for the third time in a row.

Finals Day takes places on Sunday 22nd February at Gloucester’s Kingsholm Stadium, with every side playing – 1st plays 2nd, 3rd takes on 4th, and so on. The day will be broadcast live on Prem Rugby’s YouTube Channel by NextGenLive.

Bath were once again magnificent en route to a 40-22 victory over Leicester Tigers, for whom it was a tough third defeat on the spin, leaving them in 10th currently.

Saracens’ brilliant recent form continues, a third win in the row for them and in some style too, beating Gloucester 40-17 to put them in prime position to claim the other final spot – though there is plenty yet to do for them. Gloucester have just one game remaining, hosting Leicester Tigers on the 14th February.

Harlequins remain level on points with Saracens, though they have played a game more. They made it four victorious games on the trot on Saturday with a brilliant performance against the reigning champions, Northampton Saints. A stunning second half display saw them win 64-26, leaving them undefeated since the league restarted in the new year. Saints meanwhile slip to sixth, but with two games to play they can still climb again, having been in second just a fortnight ago.

Bristol Bears have been climbing the table and rise all the way to fourth after a brilliant 47-12 victory over Newcastle Red Bulls, who have been in strong form themselves. Bristol Bears now have a very realistic chance of making the final, with two games to try and catch Saracens and Harlequins. Newcastle are by no means down and out though, they sit in seventh place after the weekend’s results.

Exeter Chiefs also kept themselves in the hunt thanks to an excellent display at Ivybridge RFC on Saturday, defeating Yorkshire Academy 43-21 to rise up to fifth place. For Yorkshire it was another tough outing as they still seek that elusive first victory, but there was plenty to be positive about with some strong moments of play.

The league continues with Round 8 next weekend, followed by Round 9 the weekend after, where those with a game in hand will play their last games before finals day.
