Introducing the NextGenXV Global Schools Challenge
NextGenXV are thrilled to announce the launch of the NextGenXV Global Schools Challenge, which will provide players, schools, and teams from around the globe an experience of a lifetime. With four tiers of competitions, the aim is to give players of all abilities and backgrounds the chance to get involved.
Inaugural Event in South Africa
The NextGenXV Global Schools Challenge will move from nation to nation over the years. The inaugural event will take place in South Africa, a nation with a passion for school sport and the most popular destination for overseas schools rugby tours.
Competition Structure
The Championship: An 8-team straight knockout competition, aimed towards some of the the top school sides in the world.
The Challenger Cup: A similar format, tailored towards those looking for exciting and competitive rugby outside of The Championship. The winners will earn a spot in next year’s championship.
Invitational Series: The Invitational Series welcome composite sides, ‘barbarians’-style teams, and club sides looking to experience all that the NextGenXV Global Schools Challenge has to offer.
The Draft: An open invitation to players of all levels from around the world that fit the age-band. Whether seeking a chance in the shop window, to experience the NextGenXV Global Schools Challenge, or simply to play in a unique environment, all are welcome.
Looking Ahead
The NextGenXV Global Schools Challenge is about experience and memories, both on and off the field.
Touring is a core part of the game of rugby, experiencing different cultures, different styles of rugby, and different people. It is with that in mind that we will rotate hosting duties around the world, a plan that ought to make it accessible to some for whom long distance travel is an issue in years when the NextGenXV Global Schools Challenge is further afield.
Of course though, the rugby is what binds the whole concept together. Whether that be the elite Championship competition that will see some of the best in the world compete, or the competitions with a lower enter point, there is a level for all. Our ethos is centred around creating unforgettable experiences and opportunities, lifelong friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.
