England release 10 as Argentina name their team

Stuart Lancaster has released ten of his England squad back to their clubs, leaving him with a 27 man squad to choose from for his squad to face Argentina on Saturday.

While Lancaster waits to select his starting XV, Argentina have already named theirs, with Juan Manuel Leguizamon captaining the Pumas in the absence of the injured Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe.

It is Argentina’s new Head Coach Daniel Hourcade’s first game in charge and he makes five changes from the side that lost 54-17 to Australia at the end of the Rugby Championship, though several are through injury.

With eight of the team playing Premiership rugby though they should have a firm understanding of what they will be facing.

England’s squad sees Alex Corbisiero and Geoff Parling return after injury. Corbisiero comes in for Mako Vunipola, who returns to Saracens with an injury, and will likely jump straight into the starting XV against the strong scrummaging Pumas.

Parling replaces Dave Attwood who returns to Bath. The only other change to the forards form the squad that faced Australia is the inclusion of Rob Webber, who covers Tom Youngs, who is expecting his first child.

In the backs there is a little more uncertainty, with 13 included and only space for ten in the matchday 23. The ten who were included against Australia last weekend are all retained but Danny Care, Luther Burrell, and Christian Wade are also included this weekend.

Care will put pressure on Lee Dickson and Ben Youngs for a spot at scrum half after impressing for Harlequins at the weekend. Burrell comes in after Billy Twelvetrees had a rare off day against Australia. However Stuart Lancaster has hinted that he will stick with Twelvetrees, meaning that Burrell is likely to miss out.

Christian Wade is one who is unlikely to be disappointed though, he is set to start on Saturday if the Daily Mail is to be believed. If that story is true then one of Chris Ashton or Marland Yarde is likely to miss out, and with Mike Brown surely certain to start and Ben Foden in such fine form that a spot on the bench is surely a guarantee, then whoever gives way for Wade is likely to miss out altogether.
