Midweek Preview – Millfield v Sebergh the headline act but cross border clashers excite

It is a relatively quiet midweek this week but there are still a few interesting fixtures to get our teeth stuck into.

The game of the week is undoubtedly Millfield v Sedbergh on Wednesday. Both have been outstanding all season, with Millfield winning our November Team of the Month award.

Millfield will probably start as favourites, though the loss of their captain, Callum Sheedy, to a serious injury sustained against Monmouth on Saturday will be a serious hurdle for them to overcome.

It promises to be one of the games of the season and has the added extra spice of looking like a play off for second place in the Daily Mail Trophy after Woodhouse Grove claimed the title on Saturday.

Tuesday

Millfield v Sebergh is not the only game this midweek though, Monmouth take on Grey’s High School from South Africa on Tuesday. Grey’s narrowly beat Millfield last week, while Monmouth just lost out to Millfield at the weekend so this ought to be a close fought contest but with the balance just in Grey’s favour.

Wednesday

Wednesday looks set to provide plenty of entertainment, RGS Newcastle take on Gosforth Academy in the country cup final, in an exciting looking school versus AASE fixture.

Sherborne host touring side King’s Parammatta, who well then go on to play Sir Thomas Rich’s and Wellington College over the next ten days so this will be an interesting gauge for the rest of their tour.

Kirkham Grammar School face a tricky task as they take on the outstanding Llandovery College, while King’s Worcester welcome Tewkesbury.

Friday

The big midweek is rounded off on Friday when Rugby host Christ College Brecon to town. Rugby will be hoping to build on their outstanding result against Bedford at the weekend as they look to finish their season on a high.
