Brighton College seal another 7s triumph ahead of Surrey & Rosslyn Park

Brighton College cemented their Surrey 7s and Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s credentials by winning the Worth 7s yesterday.

It was a strong field that also included Bedford and Tonbridge, both of whom have won big 7s tournaments themselves this season. Brighton beat both of them, in the semi final and final respectively, to make their triumph even more convincing.

They beat an excellent Bedford side 26-17 in the final, but the real thriller of the day was their semi final against Tonbidge, which finished 17-17 at the final whistle, requiring a ‘golden try’ from Brighton to seal a dramatic and exciting 24-17 victory.

Over in the Plate Sherborne collected the spoils with a 24-19 final victory over Hurstpierpoint. There was also a ‘B team’ tournament running at the same time, which was won by Hampton’s 2nd VII with a 24-17 victory over Chirst’s Hospital.

The story of the day was definitely Brighton College though, they now walk into the biggest ten days of school 7s of the year with two major trophies in their pockets, and will be a serious threat at both.
