The Weekend Review: Issue 6 – School 7s Schedule

The Lent term means that attention moves towards 7s and then a little further ahead to Easter and Summer tours.

It’s a particularly enjoyable time of year for us, 7s tournaments mean that we get to see and meet many more school and teams than we would for a regular fifteen-a-side game, while tours are an area in which we hope to greatly expand our coverage over the rest of the year.

Of course 7s tournaments and tours also tend to require new kits and clothing, which gives us a nice option to make another mention of our kit partners, SRG Elite, who produce some really high quality kit and clothing that has been earning them great praise.

If your school or team needs new tour or 7s kit then do get in touch with us and we will introduce you to Sam, the owner and beating heart of SRG.

The 7s season is rapidly approaching, with the first big tournaments taking place on Sunday 31st January at Millfield and Colston’s. A week later the Shiplake 7s and the ever competitive South Coast 7s at Portsmouth Grammar School take place.

Being a bit of a truncated term due to Easter being so early, the tournaments are packed into an even tighter schedule than usual this year. The HSBC Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s takes place between Monday 14th and Friday 18th March, a week earlier than last year.

Other big competitions on the horizon include the Surrey 7s on the 9th March, and the North of England School 7s on the 6th March, the same day as the North of Reigate Grammar School Charity 7s, Bryanston 7s, Windsor 7s, and the 7s at Queen Elizabeth’s, Barnet.

Below, we have listed the full set of U18 school 7s tournaments for the term, that have been officially confirmed so far, and it looks like being just a superb few months of school 7s.

We will endeavor to live cover as many tournaments as possible, but naturally with so many weekend’s having several tournaments there will be a few that we cannot cover live, so any photos, videos, and twitter updates that you wish to provide throughout any tournament would be a huge help, and also hopefully a good promotion for the tournament in question too. As ever the email address is writers@fifteenrugby.com and we are @FifteenRugbyXV on Twitter.

Rosslyn Park looks set to be even bigger and better than ever this year as they look to expand their coverage following their successful first year of live streaming from the main pitch last year. We are proud to be their media partners this year too, and are looking forward to bringing you even better and more detailed coverage than ever.

Hopefully the weather dries up!
