Millfield 7s – Millfield pick up where they left off in 2014

BECOME A PATRON

Millfield began this 7s season where they left off at the last tournament in 2014, picking up a tournament victory.

The 2014 HSBC Rosslyn Park 7s National Schools 7s champions picked up every trophy available to them last season, and began this season’s challenge in style, lifting their own tournament trophy and going through the day undefeated and scoring a highly impressive 196 points in their five group games.

They rounded things off in style too, defeating Blundell’s in the final 31-7 to collect the trophy.

Blundell’s had topped a tricky Group A that also included Plymouth College, Eton College, Queen’s College Taunton, Wellington School, and the Millfield 2nd VII.

Blundell’s had a good day, though did have one blip in the group stages when they lost to Eton College, who had a mixed day with two wins, two defeats, and a draw with Plymouth College.

Millfield were in Group B, which looked a potentially tricky group with the likes of Canford, Kingswood, and Sherborne all capable of creating danger, as it seemd were Welsh sides Glantaf and Cwm Rhymni.

So it proved, with each taking points off each other, bar Cwm Rhymni who finished the day without a victory.

Ultimately though it was Millfield’s day, a first trophy of the 2015 season at the first time of asking. With Wellington College also winning over in Shiplake College, the scene for the school 7s season already seems set, even at this early stage.
