The Samurai British Bulldogs will compete today at the Greene King IPA 7s at Bury St Edmunds RFC.
Competing in the Open competition, they will come across the Apache Braves, Colchester RFC, Shelford RFC, and Culford School in their group, with home side Bury Gents, Irish Exiles B, Navy Sharks, Stowmarket RFC, and Zoo Sport Ronin in the other Open Group.
Once again the Bulldogs opt for a side with plenty of school talent and recent school leavers, with four members of the squad who lifted the Plate at last weekend’s Sunshine 7s at East Grinstead retained in the squad this week.
Schoolboys Ethan Waddleton (St Joseph’s College) and Charlie Venables (Denstone College) play for the second week in a row as do former Epsom College pupil Charlie Dockery and ex Harrow schoolboy Harry Glover.
Bulldogs legend Dai Treharne, formerly of Coleg Sir Gar, returns to the Bulldogs squad, as does former Bedford pupil Ollie Lyons, who was in action over in Ireland last week.
Jon Lewis, and former Judd pupil Adam field come into the squad, as does Dan Hamilton and the Gloucester Academy prospect Mason Tonks, as well as Fiji youth prospect Sailasa Powell.
Having only failed to lift a trophy in one tournament last season, the Bulldogs will be keen to carry on that extraordinary run today at the Greene King IPA 7s.
