This week’s midweek school rugby action looks like being an exciting one, with some excellent Daily Mail Trophy fixtures as well as the start of the NatWest Cup.
That NatWest Cup kick off comes on Wednesday, with Caterham hosting KCS Wimbledon. The two enjoyed a fine game last year, with KCS coming out as winners. Both got off to good starts on Saturday, with KCS beating Skinners and Caterham beating King’s Canterbury, so expect a fine and competitive start to this excellent competition.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, Reigate Grammar School, of whom much is expected this year, are in action at home to St George’s Weybridge. Reigate will be the fancied side but will want to make sure that they put in a top performance.
Solihull will play their third game of an already busy season, they face Brynteg Comprehensive. Having lost to RGS High Wycombe last week in their opener, Solihull recovered with an excellent 17-10 win over Rugby on Saturday, and will want to keep that level up through this week.
Princethorpe College, heavily beaten by Stamford at the weekend, host Wolverhampton Grammar, and Manchester Grammar host Sandbach in what is expected to be an excellent game of rugby.
Shiplake College have their traditional curtain raiser against Windsor Boys on Wednesday, and St Peter’s Gloucester host Marling. Meanwhile St Anselm’s host the upwardly rising Welsh school, Rydal Penrhos.
There is an excellent fixture on Wednesday evening as Hampton host Seaford College in what promises to be an excellent season opener under the lights.
On Thursday Sexey’s host Milton Abbey before a huge derby on Friday night under the lights at Kingston Park as Durham and RGS Newcastle meet for their annual Friday night clash, a spectacle that never fails to ignite some passion.
