Bromsgrove’s NatWest Cup winning captain moves to Quins

Harlequins have today announced that they have signed former Bromsgrove school captain Luke White, who will join their academy with immediate effect.

White led Bromsgrove to NatWest Cup glory over Dulwich College in his final act as a Bromsgrove player. He was named man of the match in that 30-18 victory, as he had been in their semi final victory over Oundle.

It was also a tricky period though for White, who had just discovered that he had been dropped by his former academy. His performances though were evidence not just of his quality but of the strength of his character.

That was picked up by Harlequins, who selected him in their squad for the Singha Premiership 7s, where he helped Quins to the finals day for a third year in a row.

White will be on dual registration with Dorking RFC for the season, and commenting on the move, he said:

“I’m delighted to have signed for Harlequins; a club with such high calibre players, coaching staff and with such a great team culture. Playing alongside seasoned internationals and fly-halves with lots of experience like Nick Evans can only help in my development and motivate and drive me to reach the highest of standards.”

Harlequins Academy Manager, Tony Diprose, was equally excited:

“We are really pleased to welcome Luke into the Harlequins Academy set up this season. Luke has impressed us both with his attitude and his skill set during his trial period in pre-season. Both of these attributes were also on show in his performances in the Singha 7s series.

“He is a very ambitious and motivated young player and we are looking forward to overseeing his development at Harlequins and Dorking via his dual registration.”
