It has been a brilliant midweek of schools rugby so far, with some thrilling games in the Champions Trophy, NatWest Cup, Tour games, and many others.
With so many competitions, it has already been one of the busiest midweek’s of the season, and with more to come today that will continue.
Champions Trophy
As ever, the Champions Trophy has thrilled, with Radley College v Sedbergh perhaps the pick of the bunch after 87 points were shared. Today it continues with Epsom College v Eton. You can see our roundup of the week’s action in the competition here: Champions Trophy Round 2.
NatWest Cup
Monday saw Norwich, Salesian, and Lord Wandsworth College collect wins, while Dover Grammar were victorious on Tuesday.
Wednesday saw the first mass participation day in the cup so far this season, with the highlight being London Oratory v Mill Hill, which was streamed live by the RFU. London Oratory won it 29-17, and they will be live again next time as the RFU are following this strand of the draw through.
Amongst some of the bigger names Stowe, Ampleforth College, and Bedford Modern picked up wins, Bedford Modern’s came in just 30 minutes before it was called off after they hit the fifty point mark.
Elsewhere Wallington County Grammar and Austin Friars picked up impressive big wins. The week’s Cup action rounds off today with Wycliffe College v Cleeve.
Tours
On Monday Bromsgrove saw off Southport School and Grammar School at Leeds finally got off the mark with a strong 38-24 win of Sydney Grammar School.
Tuesday saw Uppingham secure a 33-14 win over Townsville, with their local rivals Catherdral School Townsville also losing the following day, 16-15 to Nottingham High School.
Caterham saw off Wairoa College 29-17, but it was defeat for both Skinners’ and Marlborough College, who went down 19-26 and 21-36 to Massey High School and Fielding High School respectively.
Other Games
Elsewhere Cheltenham College lost out in their local derby against Pate’s Grammar School on Tuesday, losing 21-12, while on Wednesday Hymers College were back to winning ways with a 14-6 win over Hull Collegiate. Denstone College also beat King’s Granthan 31-17, while Dartford Grammar impressed with a 47-22 win over Gravesend.
Coming up
Coming up today we have the seventh last 16 game in the Champions Trophy as Eton College host Epsom College, we also have Wycliffe College v Cleeve in the NatWest Cup.
Elsewhere Monkton Combe host KES Bath and King’s Bruton host Clayesmore. There are also two tour games. Reigate Grammar School host Syndey Grammar School, and Dame Allan’s host Ignatius Park.
