Wellington College sealed back to back Daily Mail Trophy titles on Saturday as they defeated Marlborough College 44-0.
The win, on the final weekend of the Trophy season, bumped them up from second to first, leapfrogging Bedford, and meaning that Kirkham Grammar School, who have a game on Tuesday against Lymm High School, can only finish second at best.
A win of any sort will move them into second though, a bonus point win will put them just 0.02 points behind Wellington College, while a regular win will leave them level with Bedford but ahead thanks to a greater number of wins.
Until that game though they sit in fourth, after Bromsgrove’s 14-11 win over Warwick bumped them up from fifth to third, dropping Sedbergh into fifth place.
Woodhouse Grove are in sixth, while Millfield move up from eighth to seventh as Stockport Grammar slip out of the Top 10 having not completed enough games.
That also sees Clifton College move up from ninth to eighth, and St Paul’s from tenth to ninth, with Solihull coming back into the Top 10.
The story of the Top 10 this week though is of course Wellington College securing their second title in a row. They might not have done so in the same dominant fashion as last year, but a title win is a title win and it will surely taste just as sweet for this marvelous rugby hotbed.
It has certainly been an outstanding Daily Mail Trophy season, with five teams fighting it out for the title in the last few weeks.
Bring on 2016!
