Bedford win School Team of the Term!

Bedford have been voted as the Fifteen Rugby School Team of the Term.

Well over 3000 votes were cast, and the East Midlands school collected just over 1,200 hundred of the, some 37%.

It was a victory that we certainly found hard to argue with after the men in red had secured a brilliant Champions Trophy title back in November with a superb win over Epsom College in the final backing up a brilliant win over Sedbergh in the semi finals.

They also secured an unbeaten season, and that would almost certainly have landed them the Daily Mail Trophy title too, were it not for two cancellations as a result of fixture congestion due to that brilliant Champions Trophy run.

The side who pushed Bedford closest for the term’s title was Hampton, the St Joseph’s Festival winners. They were the only other side to surpass 1,000 votes, collecting 31% of the votes.

Wellington College picked up a second successive Daily Mail Trophy title, they finished third in the vote, picking up 15% of the vote, ahead of Kirkham, who finished second in that competition and who, like Bedford, went unbeaten, on 12%.

Bromsgrove finished up in fifth after a brilliant unbeaten term, they will surely be likely to feature in a few monthly awards later this term.

The momentum, victory, and the praise were all with Bedford though, the Champions Trophy winners and certainly the best side that we saw live last term. Their play was simply brilliant at times.

Congratulations Bedford, unbeaten, Trophy winners, and our School Team of the Term.
