Schools Rugby Weekend Roundup: Weather intrudes again, but Hampton impress

Once again the weather played absolute havoc with the weekend’s school rugby, forcing a huge number of games to be cancelled.

Nevertheless there was still some superb rugby on show across the country, with Hampton looking particularly impressive as they racked up an incredible 90-7 victory over Ravens Wood.

Warwick were highly impressive too, beating John Fisher 35-0 as they really laid down a marker ahead of their crucial NatWest Cup game next week.

Over in the NatWest Cup, Stowe and Portsmouth Grammar School met at London Irish’s training ground on Friday evening. Stowe put in a hugely impressive display to win 34-7, setting up a last 16 tie against RGS High Wycombe, who themselves were in impressive form, beating Tiffin 45-12.

One of last term’s standout sides, Kirkham Grammar School, maintained their form with a good 27-8 win over Hereford Cathedral School, while King’s Macclesfield beat St Ambrose College 31-19.

New Hall impressively beat St George’s Harpenden 31-22, but it was KES Stratford who were really flying, beating Bablake 50-0.

One of the closest games of the weekend though saw Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar come from behind to beat Judd 23-21.
