Ally Donaldson has named his Scotland U18 side to face England U18 on Sunday.

The 1pm kick off at Birdgehaugh, Stirling, serves as a warm up ahead of the inaugural U18 5 Nations tournament in Wales over Easter, featuring England, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales.

A number of Exiles are included in the Scotland U18 side, Wellington College’s Rory McMichael starts on the right wing, with Sedbergh’s Charlie Gowling starting at scrum half. Richard Huish’s Daniel Markey starts at number 8.

On the bench Uppingham’s Archie Erskine will cover the second row, with Cameron Redpath, of King’s Macclesfield, son of the former Scotland captain Bryan, is part of the backline cover. Bedford have two players covering the backline, Fraser Strachan and Fraser Dingwall.

Matt Fagerson of Strathallan School skippers the side from openside, Fagerson is the younger brother of Zander, who has appeared twice for Scotland in the RBS 6 Nations after playing for the U20s last year.

Speaking ahead of the game, Donaldson said:

“This match is a great opportunity for a number of players to stake their claim for the upcoming 5 Nations. The home based players in the squad recently played against the Scottish Exiles, winning 29-0, which was a great exercise.”

“They’ve been training really well recently and are excited to take on England.

“England are a talented outfit who recently lost to France 22-12 in a highly competitive match. We’re expecting a physical contest and we’re looking forward to it.”
