School 7s: Kirkham Grammar show their depth at Austin Friars

Kirkham Grammar School’s 2nd VII picked up the Austin Friars 7s title yesterday.

The result just serves to highlight the depth of Kirkham’s rugby at the moment, with three of their 1st XV named in the England Counties U18 side yesterday, and their 1st VII winning the Durham 7s last weekend.

Yesterday’s tournament suffered a late re-jig after the Penrith pitches were ruled unplayable, forcing a shortened round robin style tournament with five teams.

Kirkham Grammar topped the lot, beating hosts Austin Friars, Queen Elizabeth’s School, Kirkby, Lucton School, and Cockermouth School.
