ISRFC Lambs: Lambs name team for final fixture of the season

The ISRFC Lambs have named their team for their final game of the season, against Worcester Warriors.

The fixture takes place tomorrow (Saturday) at midday at Loughborough University’s 3G pitch, with players and spectators then invited to watch the Loughborough Students National 1 fixture against Plymouth Albion afterwards.

The Lambs select ten players in their starting fifteen from their recent successful tour of South Amercia. They are led by Giggleswick’s Nick Atkinson at loosehead, with fellow tourist Jack Starkey of Queen Ethelburga’s at hooker.

Wellingborough’s Eddie Goss is in the second row, with an all-toursit back row of Bloxham’s George Cassell, Woodhouse Grove’s Louis Fraser, and Blundell’s Ben Oliphant Thompson at eight.

Both half backs were on tour, the Felsted duo of James Lennon, and Players’ Player of the Tour George Hitchcock once again lining up together.

Pangbourne College’s Will Vaughan at centre and Truro’s Daniel Hubble are the two remaining tourists in the starting fifteen.

Coming back into the side after missing the tour are Canford loosehad Charlie Bannists, Reece McCarthy of Trinity in the second row, Berkhamsted’s Will hughes at full back, Bradford Grammar’s Harry Sagar on the right wing, and Woodhouse Grove’s Alfred Nordgren at outside centre, who was representing his country whilst the tour was on.

On the bench there are a further five tourists, Felsted’s Mike Galsworthy, Wisbech Grammar’s Oliver Short, one of the tour captains, Cheltenham College’s Daniel Ali, Ashville College’s Harry Johnson, and Pangoburne College’s James Costin-Pratt.

Also on the bench are Stamford’s Henry Wills and Joe Triegaardt of Reed’s, who were both unable to make the tour.

The Lambs have so far won four and lost six of their ten fixtures this year, so a win in this, their final game, would be a real boost, leaving the season looking reasonably even, rather than a 7-4 record. Of course though, the Lambs will stick to their exciting ‘fast and free’ brand of rugby above all else, which is what makes them such a wonderful side to watch.
