It was a tale of 7s past in the Rosslyn Park HSBC National School 7s Girls and Girls AASE competitions.
Harptury College carried on their total dominance of the Girls AASE competition in recent years by claiming yet another title, topping Group A ahead of Loughborough, Swedish Girls, and Brockenhurst College.
They then beat Group B runners up, Worthing College, by a strong 36-7 margin in the semi finals to seal a final place against SGS Filton College, who had beaten Loughborough 26-12.
The final was a slightly closer affair for Hartpury, though only slightly, as they wrapped up the silverware with a 33-12 victory over their AASE rivals.
The Girls competition, meanwhile, was won by Amman Valley for the third year in a row, but they were made to work hard for that victory in the final by a superb Blundell’s side in their first ever year in the competition.
The two sides had come through their groups comfortably, before Blundell’s beat Neath Port Talbot in the quarter finals and Amman Valley saw off Clifton College 41-5 in theirs.
In the semi finals Blundell’s were given a really strong test by Haileybury, but came through for a 28-24 victory. Amman Valley had an easier time of things against a good Sir Thomas Picton side, winning 35-5.
In the final, given their respective positions, Amman Valley being back to back champions and Blundell’s being first timers, it might have felt like it would be a bit one sided affair, but this was far from that.
Blundell’s really tested the reigning champions, but Amman Valley showed their championship winning mentality to secure a superb 12-10 victory in the final.
