England seal back to back U18 International Series clean sweeps

The second U18 International Series took place over April, with England topping the unofficial table.

England secured three wins from three, as they did to top last year’s unofficial table, beating Scotland, Ireland, and Canada, who replaced England A this year.

England were 45-24 victors over Scotland, their second win over the men in blue this season, and beat newcomers Canada 55-11. They were tested though against Ireland U18 Schools, who had a good tournament.

The young Irishmen finished third with two wins from three, having beaten Italy 39-23 and host nation Wales narrowly, 38-36.

Wales, however, finished second in the unofficial table on points difference after they enjoyed a big 5-14 win over Canada and a good 22-6 victory against Scotland.

Despite defeats against Wales and England, Scotland did enjoy some success in Wales, beating Italy 28-22, however they finished up in fifth, behind Italy, after the Italians beat Canada by a strong 51-22 margin.

England and Ireland also met at another U18 level over the course of the month, with the two game series between England Counties U18 and Ireland U18 Clubs. Hosted at Ashbourne RFC outside of Dublin, Ireland U18 Clubs won a tight series 2-0, winning 29-17 in the opening game and 24-13 in game two, for a two-nil series win.
