Scotland have named their squad for the U18 6 Nations Festival, which begins on Saturday.

Hartpury College host the Festival and their Gillman’s Ground will host the first matchday of the competition, in which Scotland will close the day’s play with their 5.10pm kick off against Italy.

Matchday 2 sees the matches take place at Worcester Warriors’ Sixways Stadium on Wednesday, Scotland again closing the day’s play, this time at 4.10pm against Wales. The final matchday of the Festival takes place at Gloucester’s Kingsholm Stadium on Sunday 21st April. This time Scotland open the day’s play, kicking off against Ireland at 11.10am. All games across the three matchdays will be shown live on FreeSports.

Head Coach Ross Miller has named four players in his 26-man squad that also featured in last year’s tournament, Ayr’s Scott Clelland, and Merchiston Castle trio Dan Gamble, Matthew Currie, and rising star Jamie Dobie, who was one of the player’s of the week at the recent Rosslyn Park HSBC National School 7s.

There are three players in the squad who are based in England, St Albans and Saracens’ Cameron Furley, SGS Filton College’s Tom Jones, who is at Bristol Bears, and Rugby School’s Ben Muncaster, a member of the Leicester Tigers Academy.

All three have teammates in the England squad, however unfortunately as Scotland and England do not play each other this year we will not get to see them face off against each other.

Elsewhere in the squad George Watson’s College have two representatives, Alex Harley and Harri Morris, with Kelvinside Academy also represented by two players, Jamie Campbell and Rory Jackson.

Preston Lodge see both James Johnstone and Cameron Scott selected, while Loretto’s Nathan Sweeney and Fettes College’s Harry Paterson are also both included. Stirling County sees Ben Mace and Josh King both named, while Marr’s Jamie Drummond also makes the squad alongside Cole Lamberton of The Royal High School and Alex Samuel of St Leonard’s.

Struan Whittaker represents Edinburgh Accies in the forwards, with Joseph Strain representing Dumfies Saints in the backline. Heriot’s Scott King, GHK’s Finlay Callaghan, and Hamilton Bulls’ Jordan Craig are all also selected in the back division.

Speaking to www.scottishrugby.org ahead of the Festival, Ross Miller said:

“Preparation has gone very well, the squad are in a good place and very much looking forward to the festival. The squad are excited to face new challenges and will be looking for further opportunity to progress their development.”
