With most of the power players in New Zealand schools rugby being based in the North Island, Otago Boys are no doubt one of the power players in terms of the South Island and have been tremendous contributors towards New Zealand Schools rugby.

Easily the most recognized name in terms of the school is living legend Richie McCaw who despite being a top performer never made the New Zealand schools team but went on to be the only captain in history to lift the William Webb Ellis trophy twice.

In terms of history Millfield are a relatively young school only being founded in 1935, the Street based school more than packs a punch.

England’s leading conveyor belt of Under 18 internationals with 42 players having worn the jersey with distinction Millfield are truly a powerhouse and recent results show that the program shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Mako Vunipola and Chris Robshaw are well known internationals produced by the school and one cannot forget current coach John Mallett who made his England debut in 1995 who is leading the program currently. Expect Millfield to quickly move up these rankings if things continue as they are.

Speak to anyone following school rugby today and they will express surprise that Marist College are so high up on this list, currently any school playing outside of the GPS in Queensland are not considered at an elite level and while it may be true that they are not the program they once were make no mistake there have been an abundance of quality players that have come through this program.

Legendary Wallaby skipper and 1999 World Cup winner John Eales counts as one of the most famous sons of the school. Daniel Heenan, Daniel and Anthony Herbert are other alumni who wore the Wallaby jersey with distinction but they are but the tip of the iceberg with 24 Wallabies having once called MCA home.

Their dominance in the CAS is clear to see with 38 trophies in their history and their nearest competitor being Knox Grammar with 25.
