It has been a quiet week of schools rugby to kick off the second half of term with, but an exciting one nonetheless.
As schools returned from the break a few hardy souls got themselves up and running right away, despite the horrendous conditions at times, and produced some wonderful rugby all things considered.

Tuesday
Scotland kicked the week off and in some style as well on Tuesday as Edinburgh Academy and Dollar Academy put on an absolute show in a stunning game that ended 37-35 in Edinburgh Academy’s favour, a brilliant way to start this second half of term. Meanwhile at Marr College, the home side were in sensational form, beating visitors Hutchesons’ Grammar 57-7.

Wednesday
A few of Wednesday’s results were late coming in but there was still plenty to get excited about, not least in the Continental Tyres Schools Plate, where Whitgift and Trinity put on a treat. Trinity led at the death, but three-time Cup champions Whitgift summoned up a score and then a wonderful touchline conversion for a 26-25 victory – you can see our full report from that game here: Whitgift 26-25 Trinity.
Over in the Bowl Grey Court won 29-12 over Windsor Boys, meanwhile Lord Williams’ won 31-5 over Reddam House, while in the County Cup in the North West the ever-impressive St Ambrose College won 55-5 at Calday Grange Grammar. Not too far away Merchant Taylors’ won 24-16 over Birkenhead.
Further South King’s Grantham continue to impress, they won 29-10 against Worksop College, while in Scotland North Berwick had an entertaining 22-17 victory at Glasgow Academy.
In the South of England Hayes keep on going, they had a strong 31-11 victory over Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar, while Duke of York’s Royal Military won 24-14 at home to Simon Langton, and Sir William Borlase’s won 10-0 at Chesham Grammar.
Salesian meanwhile were sensational in a 48-5 victory at Holyport, while Bryanston got their second half of term off to a flying start with a brilliant 26-5 victory over Bournemouth.

The week began with a thriller in Scotland and so it ended too, Glasgow High School travelling to Robert Gordon’s College and coming home with a 25-20 victory in what was a superbly competitive game.
