Schools Rugby: Midweek Preview | 20th to 23rd November

Another busy midweek of schools rugby awaits, with some compelling fixtures on every day of the week, including some key knockout rugby.

 

There will also be LIVE rugby on Wednesday when we head to Broadstreet RFC to bring you Wellington College v Sedbergh at 1st XV and 2nd XV level (see below).

 

 

Monday

 

Monday sees a Reading derby in the County Cup semi finals as Reading Blue Coat and Reading School go head to head in what ought, therefore, to be a fantastic occasion.

Tuesday

 

Tuesday has plenty of excitement, not least a Continental Tyres Schools Vase Regional Final as Trent College host a buoyant Durham School side. In Scotland George Heriot’s host North Berwick.

 

Back in England the Norfolk County Cup takes place on Tuesday, while in Cambridge there is also action as The Perse welcome Bishop’s Stortford College.

Wednesday

 

Wednesday is, as ever, packed full of big fixtures. Not least at Broadstreet RFC where Sedbergh and Wellington College will take each other on LIVE here on NextGenXV (see below). It will be a double header, with the 2nd XVs being broadcast at 4.15pm and the 1st XVs at 6pm in what is always one of the great evenings on the schools rugby calendar. There is also a huge amount of knockout rugby on Wednesday, including in the Continental Tyres Schools Cup where Woodhouse Grove and St Peter’s York meet in the North A Regional Final to see who will join Kirkham Grammar, Radley College, Bromsgrove, Ipswich, Harrow, Monmouth, and RGS High Wycombe in the quarter finals.

 

Over in the Vase there is a catchup regional semi final in South West B as Lord Wandsworth College host The Oratory, meanwhile there are several Regional Finals. Midlands A sees King’s Grantham and King Worcester meet, while in Midlands B Felsted host St Albans in what should be a blockbuster fixture. In London & South East A, meanwhile, the impressive Mill Hill will be hosting Coopers’ Coborn.

 

The Bowl sees action as well, North A’s regional final sees Calday Grange Grammar travel to Loughborough Grammar, while in South West A Richard Huish host The Crypt, and South West B sees City of London Freemen’s travel to Portsmouth Grammar.

 

In the North West there is County Cup action, Manchester Grammar host Stonyhurst, while at Birkenhead Park RFC there is a clash of the titans as St Anselm’s College welcome a fired up King’s Macclesfield.

 

Elsewhere in the North West Wirral Grammar welcome Stockport Grammar, while AKS Lytham are at Merchant Taylors’ and Bolton host Clitheroe RFS. In Cheshire The Grange host Wilmslow High School.

 

Over in Yorkshire Ampleforth College and Ripon Grammar meet, with Hymers College hosting Birkdale, and Scarborough College welcoming Yarm down from the North East.

 

Shropshire sees Wrekin College host Shrewsbury and Oswestry welcome Hereford 6th form College’s 2ndXV, while in Staffordshire Newcastle-Under-Lyme host Reaseheath College. Meanwhile in the West Midlands KES Camp Hill host KES Five Ways and Bishop Vesey’s Grammar welcome Queen Mary’s Grammar.

 

Rugby School’s latest game celebrating 200 years of Rugby Football take place, they will be hosting Uppingham and, with both sides in such buoyant mood after superb recent results, it could be a very special game.

 

Oxford meanwhile see Magdalen College host Dr Challoner’s Grammar, while their 2nd XV host Burford, Cotswold meanwhile welcome Cheltenham Bournside. Shiplake College meanwhile host Cokethorpe, while in Buckinghamshire Great Marlow host Sir Henry Floyd’s and John Hampden welcome Sir William Borlase’s, with Next Phase Acadmy hosting Aylesbury Grammar.

 

Berkshire meanwhile sees Pangbourne College welcome Surrey’s Gordon’s, while Claires Court host Reddam House and The Forest welcome Salesian College.

 

In London, Tiffin and Harrodian go head to head, while Richard Challoner welcome London Oratory and Saint Cecilia’s host Fulham Boys, meanwhile in Hertfordshire Bishop’s Stortford High School are hosting Saffron Walden.

 

Down in Kent in form Ravens Wood host Langley Park, while Beth’s Grammar are at Roebucks Academy, Surrey meanwhile sees George Abbot host Salesian, while further West in Hampshire Farnborough 6thfrom College host Peter Symonds’ College.

 

Over in the South West there are some crackers. Millfield welcome Argentine tourists Cardinal Newman College, for what should be a fantastic game, while in Gloucestershire there is arguably the game of the day as Sir Thomas Rich’s, fresh from that outstanding display against Cheltenham College, host the superb Blundell’s. There is also action at St Edward’s in Cheltenham as they host Chipping Campden.

Thursday

 

Thursday is pretty backed too, including more knockout rugby as King’s College Taunton host Bristol Grammar in the South West A Plate Regional Final.

 

There is Vase action too, as Ivybridge head to Dauntsey’s for the South West A Regional Final, Dauntsey’s also have a 2nd XV in action at Milton Abbey. Over in the Bowl, meanwhile, the London & South East B regional final sees Sutton Valence host Hayes in what should be a cracker.

 

There are some big non-knockout games on Thursday too, not least Sherborne v Cheltenham College, with Cheltenham looking to bounce back from a tough night at Kingsholm and Sherborne in their best form of the season. Staying in the South West, Dean Close v Hereford 6th form College is another massive game, while in Somerset Downside look to keep their good form going against Sidcot.

 

Staying in the area, KES Bath will be taking n Monkton Combe, while Prior Park College host Beechen Cliff’s 2nd XV, King’s Bruton meanwhile take on Warminster, and Clifton High School welcomeMonmouth’s 3rd XV.

 

Jumping east, there is a huge game as Bedford host Berkhamsted, both looking to bounce back from defeats over the weekend and set up for big final run-ins of the season, while in Suffolk Culford host Woodbridge.Meanwhile in Kent, Kent College host St Lawrence College and Ashford host Bethany.
