Leicester travel to Worcester in rearranged U18 fixture

Worcester Warriors U18 side welcome their Leicester Tigers counterparts to Sixways on Sunday in their rearranged Aviva Premiership Academy league fixture.

The sides had been scheduled to meet on the 22nd December but poor weather saw the game pushed back to this weekend.

Worcester have named a strong side with Ellesmere College’s Louis Chaudron leading them from number 8. Worcester 6th form College provides the bulk of the side as might be expected due to their AASE status, though Bromsgrove School also make a sizeable contribution to the starting XV.

The Warriors are looking to bounce back from an agonising 23-20 defeat away at Newcastle Falcons in the opening round while Leicester enjoyed a comfortable 30-9 win over Leeds Carnegie.

The Tigers are yet to name their starting XV but it looks likely to be similar to the side named for the original date for this fixture.

The whole of Round 2 of the U18 league was rather weather spoiled as only three of the original six fixtures went ahead. Leeds v Gloucester and Exeter v Saracens were also postponed.

The three fixture that went ahead though were greatly entertaining affairs, with Harlequins in particular looking to be in top form with a 50-12 win against Bristol.

Such a strong win over this Bristol side packed with Filton College talent, particularly after a heavy defeat to Saracens in the opening round, spoke volumes for the talent and character of this Quins squad.

Elsewhere, Sale looked very good in their first game of the campaign, defeating 22-9, while London Wasps edged to a 21-17 away win against London Irish.
