South Coast 7s Draw Revealed – Millfield & Wellington set to compete

The draw for the 2015 South Coast 7s draw has been made and an extraordinarily high-class line-up has been assembled.

The notoriously weather hit tournament takes place on Sunday 8th February, though with all weather pitches this year that ought to be a label that disappears this time.

Hosted by Portsmouth Grammar School the tournament includes last year’s all conquering 7s side, Millfield, arguably their closest 7s rivals last year, Wellington College, who are expected to be even better this year, and the AASE giants Hartpury College.

The tournament consists of three groups of three ahead of the knockouts, making it a fast and tough competition.

Millfield are drawn in a Group A, a group that they ought to top but that gives them a couple of potential banana skins in Seaford College and St Paul’s, both of whom have been good in the longer format of the game this season.

It is Group B that is the real showstopper though, both Hartpury and Wellington are drawn together alongside Bryanston, who whilst not anywhere near their best this season, have one of the most feared reputations in school rugby, in any format of the game.

Group C sees the hosts, Portsmouth Grammar School, drawn alongside the impressive Canford School and Epsom College, who have been outstanding in fifteen-a-side in recent times but might just fancy translating that to the 7s field.
