Uppingham School will hosts twelve sides for an exciting looking 7s tournament this Sunday.

The tournament sees the twelve teams split into three groups of four. The winners of those groups plus the best second placed side will compete in the Cup semi finals following the Group stage. The remaining two second placed side and the best two third placed sides will compete in the Plate semis, while the remaining sides will head to the Bowl semi finals.

It is a strong looking field, containing Harrow, who went unbeaten in the fifteen-a-side season, perennial 7s winners Bedford, and other top sides such as Stowe, Oundle, Oakham, Stamford, and Rugby.

The hosts, Uppingham, sit in a tough looking Group A alongside Stowe, The Leys, and the ever-strong St Joseph’s College.

Bedford, one of the host consistent sides on the school 7s circuit, are the star team in Group B, but what a group it is. Oundle and Rugby are two giants of the school game and will push Bedford all the way, while Royal Hospital School are a match for anyone on their day too.

Group C looks fierce. Harrow will be the favourites, their 7s and 15s form in recent seasons has been as good as anything from anyone else in the country. In the Group C opponents though they will face some seriously tough tests, not least fro Stamford, who enjoyed another top fifteen-a-side season, and Oakham, who are always a big threat, while The Perse will be a tough side to beat too.
