Wales U18: Wales name side to take on Scotland on Sunday

Wales U18 have named their side to face Scotland on the BT Murrayfield back pitches this Sunday.

Kicking off at 11.30am, the game serves as a warm up as the two sides gear up for the U18 6 Nations Festival at the end of the month and into April, which Wales will host.

Wales’ 23-man squad includes four Exiles. Clifton College’s Ioan Lloyd will start at full back, with the rest of the Exiles on the bench. Marlborough College’s Archie Griffin covers tighthead prop, Sedbergh’s Carwyn Tuipulotu will cover the back row, and Bryanston’s Ellis Bevan is the replacement scrum half.

Scotland have also picked a number of Exiles, and you can see their side for the clash here: Scotland U18 XV v Wales.

Commenting ahead of the game, Wales U18 Head Coach Geraint Lewis said to the WRU:

“It’s an exciting first game of the season for us, and valuable preparation ahead of our Six Nations tournament which begins at the end of the month.”

“We’re looking to put into practice the things we’ve worked on in various camps. This team will be at the younger end of the U18 scale: the January cohort, born after 2000. The first international of the season is always an exciting time.”

“Sunday will be very much about giving opportunities and introducing as many players to age grade rugby as possible. Scotland always offer a stern challenge because they’re a passionate and well-drilled team. The injection of Exiles into their squad for this encounter will make them a formidable opponent.”
