With most schools on half term this weekend, and the St Joseph’s Festival taking place too, the fixture list is a slim one this weekend.
Nevertheless there is some top quality rugby going on with some of the best sides in the country in action, plus a couple of games on Friday night.
In midweek Sedbergh enjoyed a really well fought out 36-7 victory over Kirkham Grammar, turning the screw in the second half after going into the break at 7-7. It confirmed them as definitely being one of the very best sides in the country, and it is now the turn of Berkhamsted to try to derail the Sedbergh train. Having been in fine form themselves though, Berkhamsted will be eager to really challenge both themselves and Sedbergh.
Whitgift went down to the Cumbrians on the opening weekend of the season, but all year they have looked top class themselves. The host the 2016 Schools Cup finalists on Saturday, Bishop’s Wordsworth’s for what ought to be a superb game of rugby.
It has been a tough season so far for Abingdon but they will host St Peter’s Gloucester on Saturday for what ought to be a cracking game of rugby. So too should Prior Park College v Dauntsey’s.
Elsewhere Hereford Cathedral School make the trip to Oswestry, while Birkdale host Rodillian Academy, and the in form Hymers College welcome Wolfreton.
Bishop Vesey’s Grammar have been in great nick this season and on Saturday they travel to Adams Grammar, while Ellesmere College are at home to King William’s College.
Old Swinford Hospital v KES Birmingham should be a fantastic game of rugby, while the excellent Bristol Grammar School round off their first half of term with a trip to QEH.
Friday
On Friday there is a last bit of Schools Bowl action of the half term as Hitchin host Ipswich in the third round of Midlands A. Meanwhile in Bath there is a cracking game as KES Bath and Beechen Cliff meet for their annual clash.
